Nudist Misconceptions

So many misconceptions...

Nudists ARE NOT perverts.
Nudity DOES NOT equal sex.
Nudism IS NOT porn.
Nudism IS NOT bad.
You ARE NOT a bad person for being nudist.

DO IT! It's good for you!

There are a few good health reasons, psychological and physical, for going nude:

1. Loads you up with Vitamin D - the sunshine vitamin.
2. It's good for the brain. 
3. Barefoot medicine - Going shoeless is recognized as an anti-Alzheimer’s, brain-boosting activity because the soles of your feet encourage neural activity.
4. Prevents infections - tight clothing may cause internal health problems or harbor disease (yeast infections, ouch!). Especially tight clothing in the waist can cause digestive issues according to some doctors.
5. Exposing your skin, all your skin, to oxygen can be healing. And let's face it, dear readers, sometimes our body parts just need some airing out. 
6. "I'm too fat."  "I'm too skinny."  "I have scars."  "My butt is too big." ... or flat...and on and on!  Some studies show that nudists have higher body acceptance. However, for the shy, beginner nudist who may need help developing a more positive body image, try these exercises to learn to love your body. 
7. Even babies need skin-to-skin time and naked time according to doctors. 

I've listed only a few benefits for going nude. Can you think of others I've missed?

Bicycling Peruvians got naked in Lima recently to protest deadly traffic problems there - see World Naked Bike Ride. Bicyclists and drivers should SHARE THE ROAD!! In the words of Rodney King:  "People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along??"

What is the purpose of underwear??

This topic came up while I was having a conversation with AlexC last night. Why DO we wear underwear?

Undies do serve a purpose for some:

  "They keep outer garments from being soiled by bodily secretions and discharges, shape the body, and provide support for parts of it."

Some people have other ideas:

• To protect "expensive" garments.
• To eliminate dreaded panty lines.  
• To reveal your sexy side.
• So parents can yell at you to wear them.
• Visible panty lines. We need 'em. We really do.
• Aesthetics maybe?

A Naturist Bucket List

Bucket List: a number of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime.

A NATURIST BUCKET LIST - Have you thought about making yours?

No, I didn't see the movie, The Bucket List with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson.  It's about two men, both terminally ill, with their I'm-gonna-do-this-before-I-die list.  

A few months ago, I ran across someone's Naturist Bucket List and I made one of my own which I plan to add to as time goes on.

1. Vacation at a Naturist resort in some exotic place (Bali?).
2. Take Spanish classes au natural.
3. Hike in the mountains in the nude.
4. Play strip poker.
5. Take a Nude Yoga class.
6. Attend a nudist event, like the next Haulover Beach Guinness Book of World Records attempt or be in one of Spencer Tunick's photographs.
7. And when I go, bury me naked.

I recently read Professor and the Madman: A Tale of Murder, Insanity, and the Making of the Oxford English Dictionary.  I love language. I love how authors put words together to create thoughts, emotions, ideas. Call me crazy, but I also love the meaning of words and where they come from. After reading this book, I looked up some phrases with the word "naked" for this blog.

*naked ape
*butt naked

Bathing in Nude Condition

Arrested! "Bathing in the nude condition" is against the law in Fort Lauderdale.

Sounds like a joke...and I ask you, how else is one to bathe except in the nude?

hmmmmm  Let's see.... The meaning of this acronym will likely be more easily determined if I knew the context it was used. It could mean one of the following:

Now Show Friends and Workmates
Not Suitable for Women
National Schools Film Week
 It most likely means  -  Not Safe For Work. "Used to describe Internet content generally inappropriate for the typical workplace, i.e., would not be acceptable in the presence of your boss and colleagues (as opposed to SFW, Safe For Work)."  Source: Urban Dictionary

So, Curious, beware when you receive email from a friend that is labeled NSFW if you want to stay in the good graces of your employer.
